In America this coming Friday is known as Black Friday, in response to the greed and commercialism displayed on that day an artist ,Scott Wong , decided to give something away for FREE....his art! He began this a few years ago and invited other artist to do the same. Now the event #floodthestreetswithart has spread Worldwide.
Find out more here www.facebook.com/events/1170635313000957/. I'm taking part alongside some of my arty friends. You could join in too, you don't even need to be an artist, just create something and leave it with a note saying it's free and #floodthestreetswithart. Make someone's day! I'll be dropping mine somewhere in a park in Northampton UK. If you find any art on Friday 25th Nov 2016, let me know!

2 exciting exhibitions coming up!'Look Up,Look Down' sees Northants artists showcasing work based on their local area , while being inspired by the title set by Rocco at 15 Collingwood . 15 Collingwood is a great little independent shop that champions art, jewellery, 20th Century modern furniture and ephemera. The owner of 15 Collingwood has recently been featured in the Home section of the Observer Magazine, giving a insight into his style and love of colour. It's really worth a visit to 15 Collingwood and a few steps away is another independent shop 'The Italian ' where you can get a gorgeous lunch and cappuccino, while stocking up on Italian food products. If you visit please let me know if you love it as much as I do! Winter Glory will be on display in The Alfred East Gallery in Kettering. A group of 5 Northants artists coming together in an exhibition put together by Jamie Poole. They'll be a real variety of several works by each artist. Jamie is known for his unique 'text' paintings, while Brian Mutton uses the picture plane differently by creating 3D layers , a technique which I find really exciting to look at. I've yet to see the work of Charles Bezzina and Edward Stamp, however I'm looking forward to seeing Charles' watercolour interpretations of landscape alongside the woodcuts of Edward Stamp. I'll be exhibitions several seasonal inspired artworks at this show.
The Alfred East Gallery is a must see. There are many exhibitions there throughout the year and it is comprised of more than one gallery space, so there is always lots to see. |
